At Virginia Beach Patios, we believe that well-designed outdoor spaces have the power to connect people, strengthen communities, and inspire environmental stewardship. Our work across Virginia focuses on creating modern, sustainable outdoor environments that blend beauty, function, and innovation.
To encourage the next generation of creative minds in our field, we established the Outdoor Innovation Micro-Grant—a $300 annual award supporting Virginia students pursuing studies in architecture, landscape design, construction management, or environmental design.
This program reflects our commitment to sustainability and education. Thoughtful design and material choices can transform communities, enhance resilience, and promote a deeper appreciation for the environment. Through this grant, we’re proud to support students who share that vision and are shaping the future of outdoor living in Virginia.

In 250–500 words, describe how outdoor design can improve community well-being or environmental sustainability in Virginia.
You may share a personal experience, a project you’ve worked on, or your vision for creating outdoor spaces that bring people together while respecting the local environment.
🧱 Eligibility

Open exclusively to students currently enrolled in a Virginia college or university, or Virginia residents pursuing studies elsewhere.

Eligible fields include architecture, landscape architecture, landscape design, construction management, and environmental design.

Applicants should demonstrate an interest in sustainable building practices, community improvement, or innovative outdoor design.
