Water and Fire

The water and fire signs in Astrology are not compatible; this we know, for Astrology tells us so. But, one does not need a horoscope to understand how well these elements can complement each other in design. It is exhilarating and reckless to place the two next to each other, since by elemental virtue they cannot exist simultaneously. Yet, the juxtaposition of opposites creates a moody, enigmatic tension that infiltrates your space.

Water and fire features, when incorporated correctly in your patio design, can achieve a balanced sensory experience. At Virginia Beach Patios, we offer digital design renderings that demonstrate the many possibilities for inclusion of water and fire features. Here are some of the possible water and fire features we can install:

  1. Ponds- Ponds are a soothing and beautiful addition to any outdoor space. They are self-sustaining and easy to maintain. Not only do ponds create an alluring landscape, they also give you the option to have a variety of water plants to diversify the flora in your yard. Add some koi companions and your newest water feature is complete. Ponds come with skimmer, filter and pump.

2. Pondless Waterfalls- “It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.”– Nicholas Sparks.

There is nothing more mesmerizing than watching water free fall. A pondless waterfall in your own space is the perfect accessory for meditation. Pondless waterfalls, are as the name implies, waterfalls without a pond. The water spillway installed at the bottom of the fall recirculates the water making a pond unnecessary. The pondless waterfalls come with a waterfall spillway, rocks, gravel, pump, pond liner. If a pond is what you desire, one can be added.

3. Patio Ponds- These ponds may be smaller but they create an impactful presence on your patio. They are available in a variety of sizes and colors and you can place your mini pond almost anywhere, not just on your patio!

4. Rainwater Harvesting Systems- Sustainability is sexy. When you install a pondless waterfall or a bubbling urn, not only are you installing a commanding water feature, you are also incorporating a discrete rainwater harvesting system that can save thousands of gallons of water with each passing shower. Since the majority of water used in the home is used outdoors, this is the perfect solution to creating a more conscientious way of life.

5. Fire and Water Features- Here we have the ultimate combination of fire and water.

These self contained water features can be added to your pond, or standalone as the point of convergence to your space. Constructed of durable GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) and available in three sizes. choose the fire feature that best suits your style and space.

In addition to these water and fire features, we also install fire pits and fireplaces. See our website and featured blog on fire pits for more information.

Embracing opposing elements, makes for a harmonious and electrifying space. Allow yourself to let go and free fall into your landscape design.
