What to Expect When You Book a Consultation with Virginia Beach Patios

One of the most common questions we receive before a first appointment is: what actually happens during a Virginia Beach Patios consultation? The answer matters, because our process is deliberately different from what most outdoor contractors offer. Here is exactly what to expect.
Before the Consultation: No Homework Required
You do not need a plan, a budget, or a clear vision before your first consultation. Many of our best projects started with a client who knew they wanted something better in their backyard but had no idea what that looked like. That is precisely what the consultation is designed to develop. If you have photos, inspiration images, or a rough idea of what you want, bring them. If you do not, we will develop the direction together.
Three Ways to Connect: Virtual, Design Center, or On-Site
Virginia Beach Patios offers three consultation formats depending on your project and preferences. A Virtual Consultation is a 60-minute video session covering project scope, site conditions, and investment range. It is ideal for early-stage exploration or for clients who want to vet the process before committing to an in-person meeting. A Design Center Consultation brings you to our showroom at 1253 Jensen Drive, where you can see live-scale material displays, touch the actual paver samples and pergola systems we install, and sit with our design team to begin developing a direction. An On-Site Consultation brings our team to your property for a detailed assessment of site conditions, drainage, setbacks, and scope.
What We Cover in the Session
Every consultation covers the same core territory regardless of format. We discuss how you use your outdoor space and how you want to use it. We identify which elements are priorities and which are aspirational. We talk honestly about investment ranges based on your scope so you leave with a realistic number rather than a vague range. We explain our design-build process from the first proposal through 3D visualization, design approval, and construction. And we determine whether your project is a good fit for our firm before either party makes a commitment.
What Happens After
If the consultation confirms a strong fit, we present a Design-Build Proposal outlining project concept, scope, and investment range. The client reviews and signs the proposal, provides a design deposit, and we begin the 3D design phase. The design deposit is credited toward the construction contract upon project approval. If for any reason the project is not the right fit for either party, there is no obligation and no fee.
All three consultation types are available at virginiabeachpatios.com/book-online. Appointments are available Monday through Friday.
